Week 4 Preview (Su14): Easy, On Easy Street

When the dust settles on Week 4 we’ll be half way done with what has been a weird summer season.

Despite some weather heading into this weekend, we’re expecting to be able to play Sunday with another great day for wiffleball.

If you follow us on Facebook or Twitter you already know of the Webgems controversy regarding lost submissions. The email server didn’t deliver submissions starting in Week 4 of the Spring Season through last week. The league will be making this up by doing a video and vote for the rest of Spring, and will also do a special vote for Weeks 1 and 2 of the Summer. We got 4 submissions for Week 3 of the summer, on time, so we’re back in good shape. Don’t forget to submit your webgems every week…and we’ll get back to making sure there is a vote every week.

The first meeting of the working group on the PWL transition planning for Commissioner Gallaway’s departure met this week. 7 of the 10 participants who have signed up met over dinner Wednesday night to review the operating budget of the PWL, which led to heavy drinking. Despite some challenges, there is agreement that there is a future path for continuing league operations. More details about the activities of the working group, as well as its membership, will be announced after the Labor Day break.

Additionally after the Labor Day break we’ll be testing INSTANT REPLAY during Week 5. The Managers voted in the pre-season call to do a test one week on implementing instant replay reviews. The rules and process for test will be rolled out prior to Week 5. No results will be overturned, but we are going to test the system to see if it’s possible to be implemented in the future.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Don’t forget to vote for Player of the Week. Votes are due at Noon on Friday. The public vote counts for 50% of the final tally, with the managers vote the remaining 50%. VOTE NOW
