Borg manager and keystone, Ben Prochazka, tore a ligament in his leg during the fourth inning of their first game against the Hot Sundaes this Sunday. He won’t be able to return this season. Team doctors tried to treat the injury by rubbing some dirt on it, but were unsuccessful.
Prochazka, who was player of the week for Week 3, was unavailable for comment, but league media gadfly Dominic Gabello gladly chimed in, “It’s certainly a loss for the Borg. Ben was really the glue that held that team together. He’s the bald one, right?”
Prochazka missed much of last season with FieldWorks due to a dislocated shoulder received during an excited game of ring toss when the traveling circus was in town. He was working for the circus at the time and the lack of health coverage for “temporary carney folk” exacerbated his problem.
His absence comes at a critical time when his team will be playing their last two regular season games on Sunday for a chance at the playoffs. They’re taking on division leading FieldWorks Canvassers, and if they lose both games, will likely become the 3rd team eliminated from post-season, joining You’re Killing me Smalls and the Masterbatters. If they split with FieldWorks or win both, they’ll be heading to the post-season.
