The Summer got started out right with the league hitting almost 30 points higher than last season. We’ll see if those numbers hold up as the rookie teams start to figure things out.
No rookies get a POTW nomination this week, though Brian Allen, a sophomore with a career .136 batting average, finally broke out. Wiley veteran Patrick Browning, long past his prime, in his eighth season gets his first nomination in the last six. Mark Nicholson became the first guy in over a year, and the 13th all time, to hit for the cycle. Despite his team losing both games, expect Greg Hudson to be the front runner, he’s figured out this online voting stuff. Thaman took some batting practice this week, but his mound work needs a little improvement to get back to his MVP days.
