A weird record setting week gives us a few more things to ponder with Player of the Week Nominations. Nicholas DiCrosta returned as a guest player, and picked up his 21st nomination. He trails Joe Thaman by 1 to tie for the all time record of nominations. Matt Dreyfus, in addition to getting the one hit that set the career record, had quite a day at the plate, grabbing his 8th nomination. He has never won the award, and is the player with the most current nominations never to win, with four players tied at 0-for-5. The all time record for nominations without a win belongs to Alex Filides, who was nominated nine times, before finally getting a win on his 10th try.
Nicholas West: (6 nominations, 1 win)
There’s a reason that 7th Linning is playing .500 ball right now — and it’s Nick West. Their most consistent player (batting and showing up) carried them again this week. This week, Nick batted .500, hit 2 homeruns, and had an OPS of 1.700. But again — please get a new logo.
Jeffrey Nitto: (4 nominations, 2 wins)
While Nitto only had 8 at bats this week, he made each one count. Hitting .500 with an OPS of 2.125, Nitto smashed 3 homeruns (4 RBIs) and helped keep the Gumballers one game ahead of Gas House.
Matt Dreyfus: (7 nominations, 0 wins)
I’m sure he could’ve been an automatic nomination considering he now is the all time hits leader — but Matt had to show up and play out of his mind too. Matt had an OPS of 1.917, batted .583, hit 2 homeruns, and had 5 RBIs — not a bad day at the plate.
Nicholas DiCrosta: (20 nominations, 4 wins)
Look who decided to show up this season! The only week he’s played this season, and he’s nominated. Nick batted .727, an OPS of 1.909, with a homerun and 5 RBIs. Wonder if Gas House will ask him to come back next week?
Anthony Morin: (4 nominations, 0 wins)
An automatic nomination this week — Morin pitched a no hitter against the Sex Panthers. If not for an error, Morin would’ve had the ol’ perfecto — but instead he gets a no hitter with 6 strikeouts also. Batting wise, Morin batted .364 with a double on the day.
